Privacy

Tabcat runs on your Mac and sends nothing anywhere. It has no account, no analytics and no network connection of its own. This site keeps only the emails people give it for the waitlist, and daily visit totals that identify no one.

Updated 4 November 2026, for Tabcat 0.1.

What Tabcat can see

  • Where windows are. With Accessibility, Tabcat reads the position and size of the windows of apps that have a tab, so it can move the next one into the same spot. It doesn't read what's inside them or their titles.
  • Which apps are running. Tabcat checks which tabbed apps are open, and lists apps with a window open when you add a tab.
  • When an account starts signing in. Tabcat watches the log Claude keeps on your Mac for the line Claude writes when it sends you to your browser to sign in.

With Automation, Tabcat asks an app to show its window when you click its tab. It sends nothing else to other apps.

While an account signs in, Tabcat takes claude:// links for up to 3 minutes, or 10 when you start the sign-in from Settings, and passes each sign-in link to every running copy of Claude. Only the copy that started the sign-in accepts it. Any other claude:// link goes to the copy of Claude in front.

Tabcat doesn't store sign-in links or send them anywhere but your copies of Claude. Its log notes which copies a link went to and the link's path, never the rest of it.

What Tabcat keeps

Everything lives in the app's own folder in ~/Library/Application Support on your Mac:

FileWhat's in it
profiles.confYour tabs and accounts, and each tab's colour.
Tab stylesTab names, icons and Sets, in a JSON file.
desktop/One folder per Claude account: that copy of Claude's own data, including its sign-in.
state/A log of what Tabcat did, such as tabs switched and apps started, for fixing problems.

Strip and shortcut settings are kept in macOS's own settings store for Tabcat. None of it leaves your Mac.

Mailbox

Coming soon

When the mailbox arrives and yowl is installed, Tabcat will ask yowl for your mail and send your replies through it. yowl keeps that mail on your Mac. Tabcat will keep no copy.

The waitlist

When you join the waitlist, we keep your email address and the time you joined. Nothing else: no name, no location, no record of your visit.

We use it for one thing: to email you once, when you can download Tabcat. We don't share it or add it to other lists. After that email goes out, we delete the list.

The list is stored with Cloudflare, which runs this site. To have your address removed sooner, write to hello@tabcat.app from that address.

This website

This site sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and loads nothing from other sites. Cloudflare, which runs it, sees each visit's network address to deliver the page and stop abuse, as any host does. The site keeps none of it.

For each day the site keeps four numbers about the home page: how many times it was shown, how many visits clicked a tab in the demo, how many tapped the email field, and how many new addresses joined the waitlist. Nothing else is sent with them, so they can't be traced to you or your device. We delete these totals when Tabcat launches.

Removing Tabcat

  1. Quit Tabcat and delete it

Quit Tabcat from its menu, then delete Tabcat from your Applications folder.

  2. Delete its folder

Delete the app's folder in ~/Library/Application Support. This also removes each account's copy of Claude and its sign-in.

  3. Take back its permissions

In System Settings › Privacy & Security, remove Tabcat from Accessibility and Automation.
